I get many calls everyday from Nurses who are enquiring about getting into Medical or Pharmaceutical Sales.

Generally, they are seeking advice on how to get in and to see if they would be a fit.

Nurses can make exceptionally good Medical Sales reps primarily because of their high level of communication skills.

One of the classic Sales tips in Medical Sales, or indeed, any Sales forum is –

‘You have one mouth and 2 ears – use accordingly’

Unfortunately, some Sales people prefer the sound of their own voice and their communication skills are poor.

Nurses are excellent listeners and can empathise quickly which is not easy, this makes them genuine communicators.

However, it is not enough just to be a good listener to be a good Medical or Pharmaceutical Sales Rep

  7. Sales experience or strong Sales potential

  9. Comfortable in own skin
  10. Sociable
