We have a unique new job in which may suit a Nurse Trainer, Nurse Advisor, Nurse Educator or Medical Sales Rep.

The primary function of the Medical Product Advisor is to support the Contracts Managers and the Information Team and to execute business plans and key processes aimed at achieving the goals of:

­Understanding the purpose, the environment of use and the key attributes of the medical products, equipment and services being purchased by hospitals.

­ Accurately cataloguing products, equipment, services and supplier information so the team can understand and compare what is being purchased by participating hospitals.

­ Managing all assigned contracts to ensure they are meeting the quality, customer service and Value for Money needs of each participating hospital.

Responsibilities:

This Medical Product Nurse Advisor will be responsible for:

­ Researching medical products, equipment and services purchased by the hospitals, in depth, in terms of gathering product information and samples, understanding the purpose for which they are being purchased and the environments in which they are being used, the key defining and/or differentiating Specifications, Technical Merit and Functional Characteristics of the products.

­ Identifying commonality and similarity of the products being purchased from different sources but used for similar purpose / procedures.

­ Educating the Contracts Managers on procedures, products, and environments of use, and supporting their understanding on an on-going basis as required.

­ Assisting in categorising correctly and accurately all products into the hospital procurement database.

­ Assisting the Contracts Managers in the Tendering Process, and especially in evaluating and assessing products / services proposed by suppliers, and supporting in the Tender recommendation process, taking into account the individual environments of use of each hospital.

­ Ensuring that all product information and samples are recorded, kept up to date and stored in a logically structured way making them easy to retrieve.

­ Advising the Contract Managers on new products coming on the market, on new emerging technology and potential new suppliers.

­ Working pro-actively and as required with the Information Management Team & the Contracts Team to execute plans aimed at achieving the team goals.

­Requirements –

Must have a recognised nursing qualification, or a degree in clinical engineering, or a degree in another medical-related discipline.

­ Must have experience in working in a hospital environment, and have extensive knowledge of various procedure practises, products and equipment used in hospitals.

­ Exposure to a commercial / business environment in the medical field would be beneficial.

­ Must have excellent communications skills, verbal and written, and must be able to effectively transfer clinical/medical knowledge to non-clinical persons.

­ Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, such as Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Excel and Powerpoint.

­ While not essential, project management experience, including overseeing a project from conception to completion would be beneficial.

 

Salary –  €40k – €45k pro rata

Dublin city centre based
