Dietitian required for Sales and Marketing – Dublin

Reports to  Regional Business Manager
Location – based within easy commuting distance of Dublin office, Sales position to cover all of Ireland

Metabolics and Ketogenics Specialist
(sales & commercial)

Overall Purpose of the Job

This is a hybrid role which has 0.6FTE allocated to sales in field and 0.4 FTE allocated to marketing and projects. This allows a breadth of experience and skills development whilst having proximity to the customers and the metabolics market.

Sales purpose
Key Global and UK centres in this territory means clinical credibility and understanding of Metabolics / paediatrics is essential
To identify, develop and manage key Metabolic and Ketogenic prescribers and influencers.
To deliver territory sales and profitability targets and achieve a ‘preferred partner status’ with all our key customers.
To organise Metabolics and Ketogenic patient events to achieve optimal return on investment within allocated budget (weekend and evening working is part of this role requirement).
To identify new opportunities within the Metabolic and Ketogenic Therapy area.
To utilise clinical expertise and knowledge to influence key stakeholders in Metabolics and Ketogenics.
Close collaboration with Medical and Marketing is essential to this territory due to having Global and National KOLs in the key centres.

Marketing purpose
Working 0.4FTE on projects with direction from the Metabolics Marketing team and in line with our key priorities and strategy.  This role is responsible for the operational leadership of key marketing projects the UK/IR. The role will be responsible for both inputting into the brand strategy and for the development and execution of key elements of the annual operating plan in line with agreed commercial goals.

 
Skills & Experience Required

Sales
– Experience in HCP/Patient contact in Paediatrics or Metabolic therapy areas
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills
– Understanding of the HSE
Basic analytical skills
– Must live on territory

Marketing
– Ability to liaise  cross functionally with key departments and gain stakeholder buy-in to plans
– Some understanding of how HSE system works in primary and secondary care.
– Demonstrated analytic and financial management skills
– Ability to demonstrate project management skills
– Good communication skills (written/ verbal) – clear and persuasive.

Proven history of strong sales performance ideally in a healthcare or pharmaceutical environment.
Selling, negotiation & key account management skills.
Experience of implementing and delivering against sales strategy.
Strong understanding of the HSE landscape and nutrition.

– Collaborative working style with ability to seek win-win situations
– Strong focus on personal development

Education & Qualifications Required

Educated to degree level in Dietetics or Nutrition

– Degree in Marketing, or CiM members holding a Chartered Marketer Qualification (or equivalent)

The Faculty will provide pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and food science accredited qualifications for graduates interested in direct entry or conversion to careers in these economically important sectors.

As well as operating an R&D Budget of over €6 million a year, Innopharma is also the country’s leading provider of innovative training programmes in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries. This provides Innopharma Labs and the wider tech sector with graduates to sustain technology developments and industry growth in Ireland.

The Griffith-Innopharma Faculty of Science was launched at Griffith College Dublin by the Minister of State for Skills, Research and Innovation, Damien English T.D.

“The pharmaceutical, med tech and food sectors have undergone significant change over the past decade,” Minister English said.

“Successful companies in these sectors have remained flexible and adaptive in their thinking, business strategy and staffing.

More vacancies in pharma, food and med tech than qualified personnel

Responding to questions InnoPharma CEO Ian Jones explained: “In addition to new Griffith-Innopharma Faculty of Science being launched, Innopharma Labs delivers Springboard programmes for unemployed people to convert their skills into these essential areas of our economy.

“Over 70pc of 1,500 students that have completed our specific programmes have re-entered employment.”

According to Jones there are over 370 pharmaceutical and med tech companies that employ 70,000 directly and indirectly.

“While thousands of jobs have been created in the medical devices and pharmaceutical sectors, we have reached a point where there are more vacancies than qualified personnel,” Jones said.

Jones said the new Griffith-Innopharma Faculty of Science will provide pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and food science accredited qualifications for graduates interested in direct entry or conversion to careers in these economically important sectors.

“Innopharma Labs’ training programmes are designed in conjunction with industry partners such as United Drug, GlaxoSmithKline and Medtronic as well as representative bodies like IBEC. Swords, Co Dubin-based pharmaceutical plant MSD is to close by the end of 2017 with the loss of 570 jobs, it has been confirmed today (Silicon Republic)

The closure follows a review of MSD’s worldwide manufacturing operations, resulting in sites being sold, closed and consolidated around the world.

This has been a heavy blow to the Pharmaceutical Sales and Medical Sales sectors with many job losses.

IDA Ireland said the pharmaceutical sector is of prime importance to the Irish economy, with more than 22,000 people employed in the sector.

 

“IDA is committed to working intensively with MSD on finding a buyer for the facility and creating alternative employment in the area,” said IDA Ireland chief executive Barry O’Leary.

“The extended lead-in time of 2017 will facilitate IDA Ireland greatly in finding a buyer.

“IDA Ireland has a good track record in finding buyers for pharmaceutical sites such as this.

“IDA Ireland has previously facilitated purchases of major sites like MSD’s in Swords from global pharma companies, such as Pfizer and Wyeth,” O’Leary said.
